Campaign’s signature debate will air live, commercial-free and in English and Spanish on NBC4 and Telemundo 52
Universal City, Calif. – Sept. 29, 2026 – NBC4/KNBC and Telemundo 52/KVEA will host a live one-hour debate for the 2026 Los Angeles race for mayor with incumbent Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass and Councilmember Nithya Raman on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT. The mayoral campaign’s signature debate will be presented commercial-free in English and Spanish.
As voters prepare to make their choice on a closely watched local election, the debate will provide an opportunity to hear from candidates on issues shaping the future of Los Angeles like public safety, homelessness, housing, economic development and recovery from recent challenges facing the city ahead of the general election on Nov. 3.
NBC4 News Anchor Colleen Williams, NBC4 Chief Political Reporter Conan Nolan and Noticiero Telemundo 52 News Anchor Alejandra Ortiz will moderate the debate, which will focus on the priorities and concerns of communities across Los Angeles.

The debate is being held in partnership with Loyola Marymount University (LMU).

Content is embargoed until 8:01 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13. No photography or screen captures are permissible during the debate for use on social media or other platforms. After the live debate has concluded at 8:00 p.m., media may make use of debate excerpts to report on, comment on or analyze with credit to NBC4 and Telemundo 52. For TV, on-screen credit “NBC4 and Telemundo 52” must appear and remain on screen during any debate excerpt. For online, a less-than-one-minute excerpt must stream with credit as described above.
