NBCU Academy Introduces Local Associate Reporters Development Program

NBCUniversal Local and NBCU Academy are collaborating to identify promising talent both in front and behind the camera through the NBCU Academy Local Associate Reporters Development Program.

NBCU Academy is thrilled to introduce the NBCU Academy Local Associate Reporters Development Program, a collaboration between NBCU Academy and NBCUniversal Local designed to promote the professional growth of emerging television journalists through our local newsrooms.

This initiative provides newsroom positions for both early-career television news professionals and experienced print journalists seeking to transition into television roles. The participants receive extensive on-the-job training opportunities, coaching and mentorship through our experienced team members, as well as access to resources from NBCU Academy.

During their time in the program, NBCU Academy Local Associate Reporters undergo comprehensive training across all areas – including producing and reporting – to gain hands-on experience and acquire the essential skills needed to succeed. We hope this program helps them become an essential part of the next generation of contributors for our stations and NBC News.

The NBCU Academy Local Associate Reporters Development Program has officially launched with a five-member inaugural class, who are now working in NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations in Philadelphia, Miami, Houston, Orlando, and Hartford.

We believe that investing in the development of talented journalists is essential for the future of our fast-changing industry, and we are committed to providing opportunities for growth and advancement within NBCUniversal. This program is just one example of that effort.
