NBC News NOW Reaches Largest Monthly Primetime Audience on Record

August 19, 2024 – NBCU News Group ranks as the #1 digital news organization in the U.S. for July 2024 with 160 million monthly unique visitors, marking its best month on record as a public entity (since April 2021), according to Comscore. NBCU News Group, comprised of NBC News, TODAY, MSNBC and CNBC, is the #1 leading news brand and continues to top all news competition, including CNN, ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, the New York Times and the Washington Post. 

NBCNews.com reached 115 million unique visitors in July, its second strongest month on record and its best month since March 2020. This past month was also NBCNews.com’s best July in history. NBCNews.com reached its strongest monthly levels of video starts on record with 100 million starts. NBCNews.com is the #2 news site in July, ranking ahead of Fox News, the New York Times, CBS News, ABC News and the Washington Post, behind only CNN.com and with the smallest gap seen between the two brands to-date.

NBC News NOW had its third best month on record in July, behind only January 2021 and November 2020. NBC News NOW reached its largest monthly primetime audience on record with triple-digit, year-over-year growth. NBC News NOW also marked its most-watched weekend on record, surrounding the assassination attempt on former President Trump in July. Finally, the week of the 2024 Republican National Convention was one of NBC News NOW’s top five weeks on record.

TODAY Digital reached 50 million unique visitors in July, its strongest in four months, up +14% vs. the prior month. It continues to rank as the second largest individual publisher among leading lifestyle and entertainment brands, a position it’s held for the last seven months. TODAY Digital also ranked as the leading lifestyle and entertainment brand across key video metrics. 

MSNBC Digital reached 37 million unique visitors in July – its best month on record – growing +39% vs. the prior month, +90% versus the prior year and +17% vs. the previous record in January 2021. MSNBC ranked as a top five political news destination, based on monthly unique visitors, in addition to continuing to rank #1 based on total minutes spent.

CNBC Digital reached 52 million unique visitors in July, up +19% month-over-month. CNBC continues to rank as the #2 business news site, ahead of WSJ.com, Reuters.com, Foxbusiness.com, Bloomberg.com and Fortune.com. CNBC has also been the #1 brand in business news video time spent for 32 consecutive months.
