Cassimy’s Sixth Studio Album – “Mister Cassimy” – Debuts Friday, August 22
Album Sales to be Donated to Chicago Housing Authority’s ‘Springboard to Success’ Scholarship Fund
Chicago, IL (August 20, 2025) – Following the success of his 2024 holiday season album, “Standing on Christmas,” NBC 5 Chicago (WMAQ-TV) morning co-anchor Evrod Cassimy has announced the upcoming release of his sixth studio album, “Mister Cassimy.” With the release of his latest album, along with all his previous projects, all money raised from sales of Cassimy’s new album will be used to send Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) youth residents to college through a continued partnership with the CHA’s “Springboard to Success” (S2S) program, a non-profit arm that supports life-changing programs helping propel CHA residents to pathways of academic success, economic stability and independence.
“Mister Cassimy” will be officially released (and available for purchase) on all digital service providers, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud and Tidal among others, beginning this Friday, August 22.
Written and recorded by Cassimy, “Mister Cassimy” is seven-song project that will take listeners on a melodic journey through the challenges & triumphs of life showcasing Cassimy’s standout talents as an acclaimed singer-songwriter.
The title, “Mister Cassimy” is in honor of Cassimy’s father, Dr. Glenn Cassimy, a former Chicago Public Schools teacher, career principal and superintendent. Cassimy’s late mother, Avril Cecily Parris Cassimy, was a career teacher in Rockford, IL.
“My parents have always stressed the importance of education,” said Cassimy. ‘Mr. Cassimy’ is what the students called my father in school. He spent several years teaching on Chicago’s south side. I want listeners to remember every time they listen to this album that they’re helping a child in the classroom take their education to the next level.
I couldn’t be happier to follow in my mother and father’s footsteps and help students pursue an education in my own way. I truly hope that people not only enjoy this new album but also feel good while listening to it knowing they are supporting the next generation of leaders.”
Among the highlights on Cassimy’s new studio album includes the up-tempo “Just Fine,” a song Cassimy wrote after losing his mother earlier this year to cancer. The mid-tempo song, “Sit,” is a throwback to Cassimy’s days as a young student in elementary school. On the song “R&B Ain’t Dead,” Cassimy recalls the early days when he fell in love with music and songwriting. “Mister Cassimy” is a follow up to Cassimy’s previously released EP, “The Life of James.
Cassimy’s passion for music started early in life when he began singing publicly at the age of three. In his teen years, he began writing and composing music. In recent years, Cassimy’s musical success as an adult saw him opening for music legends Patti LaBelle, Boyz II Men and Tamar Braxton, among others.
In 2018, Cassimy started his own record label, Everything Evrod Entertainment. To date, Cassimy’s musical catalogue has successfully raised over $140,000 directly benefiting individuals & families in need, not to mention inspiring countless others through his music and songwriting.
“We’re proud to partner with Evrod Cassimy in support of public housing youth,” added Kristen Hamer, Director of Corporate & External Partnerships, Chicago Housing Authority. “Education is a research proven pathway out of poverty, yet too many young people face significant barriers to accessing and completing college. That’s why Evrod’s support of ‘Springboard to Success,’ the Chicago Housing Authority’s nonprofit partner, is so vital. Our work ensures youth growing up in public housing don’t just dream of college, they get there and thrive. Together, we are investing in the power of their potential.”
Cassimy, a seven-time Emmy-nominated journalist, can be seen co-anchoring NBC 5 News TODAY weekdays on NBC 5 Chicago from 4:00 to 7:00 AM CT (and 7:00-8:00 AM on the NBC 5 Chicago News live streaming channel).
