Between July 21 and August 11, the public can make a donation to support youth at the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles. Campaign will culminate with backpack distribution events between July 31 and August 7.
Universal City, Calif – July 20, 2026 – NBC4/KNBC and Telemundo 52/KVEA ’s Supporting Our Schools back-to-school donation drive returns July 20 through August 11 to help students across Southern California access the school supplies they need to succeed in the upcoming academic year. Since 2023, Supporting Our Schools has distributed more than 16,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies, helping students start the school year prepared and confident.
Between July 20 and August 11, the public can support the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, the Center for Community Well-Being® by making an online donation to benefit youth programming. In partnership with the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, NBC4 and Telemundo 52 will host a series of back-to-school events across Los Angeles County, where station talent will help distribute backpacks and school supplies to local students. This partnership supports the YMCA’s efforts to strengthen underserved and under-resourced communities by addressing critical educational and community needs. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

- Wednesday, August 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Mid Valley YMCA located at 6901 Lennox Avenue, Van Nuys, CA, 91405
- Wednesday, August 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Southeast-Rio Vista YMCA located at 4801 E. 58th Street, Maywood, CA 90270
- Friday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Wilmington YMCA located at 1127 N Avalon Boulevard, Wilmington, CA, 90744
California Credit Union returns as a sponsor for the 2026 Supporting Our Schools campaign includes. California Credit Union will activate its branches in Los Angeles and Orange counties as donation sites for dropping off new school supplies through August 1.
