Outperforms ABC’s “This Week” for the third consecutive month in the demo
Nov. 29, 2023 — Meet the Press with Kristen Welker (MTP) was the #1 Sunday public affairs show in the key demo for the month of November, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.
It marks the third consecutive month in which MTP has outperformed ABC’s “This Week” in the demo most valued by news advertisers.
MTP remains #1 in the demo for the current season, leading ABC and CBS.
On digital, MTP is pacing to deliver over 15 million video views for the month of November.
#1 in the Key Demo in November
MTP ranked #1 in November in the A25-54 demo. The broadcast averaged 443,000 viewers per week and led ABC’s “This Week” by +66,000 (+17%) and CBS’s “Face the Nation” by +12,000 (+3%). MTP improved on its October leads over both ABC and CBS.
November’s numbers were buoyed by newsmaking interviews with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer.
The broadcast averaged 2.437 total viewers per week in November, leading ABC by +170,000 (+7%) and trailing CBS, which continues to rate for just 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast, by just 8%.
This past Sunday, MTP posted its largest A25-54 win over ABC in over a year, improving its week-over-week lead vs. This Week.
Dominant Performance on Digital This Month
MTP is pacing to deliver more than 15 million video views across digital platforms, posting a 63% increase over the previous year. The last four months have seen the show’s strongest continued performance on digital since early 2022.
On YouTube, full episodes averaged 204,000 viewers, with audiences watching for an average of 25 minutes per episode.
#1 in the Nation’s Capital for Eight Years Straight
MTP has never lost a month in total viewers in the Washington, D.C. market. On Sunday, the broadcast ranked #1 across the board and beat the competition combined in the A25-54 demo.
Among total viewers, MTP has not lost a Sunday in the nation’s capital in over eight years.
