Wins 3rd Straight Week in Key Demo, Tops ABC and CBS by Double-Digits
Beats ABC in Total Viewers For 37th Consecutive Broadcast
DECEMBER 12, 2017 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, December 10, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its second consecutive week at #1.
Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who addressed calls for President Trump’s impeachment, and Tim Scott (R-S.C.) as well as Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.).
3.710 million total viewers tuned into MTP: +27 percent (+779,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and two percent (+83,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which only rates for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. This was MTP’s biggest total viewer audience in 35 weeks (since 4/2/2017) and its 37th straight win over ABC. Week over week, MTP grew its total viewer audience by four percent (+141,000) and increased its advantage over ABC by double-digits (+42 percent, +230,000). Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP increased its advantage over ABC by double-digits (+36 percent, +205,000).
MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers for the 3rd straight week, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 981,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +34 percent (+251,000) more than ABC and +19 percent (+155,000) more than CBS. Week over week, MTP increased its advantage over ABC by eight percent (+19,000), and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP increased its advantage over ABC and CBS by double-digits: ABC +30 percent (+58,000), CBS +74 percent (+66,000).
Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, beating competition by double-digits: ABC by +13 percent (+110,000) and CBS by +18 percent (+143,000).
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers since March 22, 2015.
An additional 1.071 million total viewers and 356,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
