Only Sunday Show to Grow Across the Board Year over Year

MARCH 7, 2017 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the most-watched Sunday show this past Sunday, March 5, according to Nielsen data. Season to date, MTP is the #1 Sunday show across the board, marking the first time the broadcast has held that distinction at this point in the season since 2010-11.

4.128 million viewers tuned into Sunday’s broadcast, which featured exclusive interviews with former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and an interview with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

MTP was the only network broadcast to deliver more than four million viewers, topping CBS’ “Face the Nation” by +19 percent (+645,000), its highest lead over CBS since November 2015. MTP also topped ABC’s “This Week” by +24 percent (+793,000). From last Sunday, MTP grew the most in total viewers out of all the Sunday public affairs shows, increasing by +13 percent. Compared to both CBS and ABC, MTP was the only Sunday public affairs show to grow across-the-board from the same Sunday last year, marking a two percent gain in total viewers and a five percent gain in A25-54 viewers. To note, CBS continues to rate only for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast.

The show continues its #1 streak in the demo most coveted by news advertisers, delivering 1.220 million A25-54 viewers and topping its competition by double-digits. MTP beat CBS by +412,000 demo viewers (+51 percent), its highest lead over CBS since August 2012, and ABC by +367,000 demo viewers (+43 percent). From last Sunday, MTP grew by +11 percent in the demo.

The show continues its dominance in the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming the competition in total viewers, and marking its 88th consecutive broadcast win.

An additional 2.079 million total viewers and 515,000 A25-54 viewers watched MTP through rebroadcasts on MSNBC.
