The Live Event Commemorates the 10-year Anniversary of Scholas Occurrentes, a Global Educational Program Launched by Pope Francis
Noticias Telemundo Anchor Julio Vaqueiro Will Moderate as the Pontiff Answers Questions from Young People Around the World
WHAT:
Noticias Telemundo presents an exclusive town hall with Pope Francis from Vatican City. The town hall will feature a live audience and a conversation via videoconference between the pope and youth in the United States, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Spain with discussions about climate change, mental health and other issues.
The live event celebrates the 10th anniversary of the pontifical foundation Scholas Occurrentes, which seeks to bring together young people from different backgrounds with the aim of fostering peace and understanding. The town hall takes place more than two months after Pope Francis marked the 10th anniversary of his election as the first Latin American pontiff. Created when Pope Francis was the archbishop of Buenos Aires, Scholas Occurrentes was later established as a pontifical charity and today the program is a global network of schools found in 190 countries and nearly 500,000 schools.

Live from Vatican City, the town hall will stream on NoticiasTelemundo.com and Noticias Telemundo’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Viewers can also watch via the Noticias Telemundo app available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Portions of the town hall will be broadcast on the network’s flagship evening newscast, Noticias Telemundo, on Thursday at 6:30 pm ET/5:30 CT.
WHO:
Julio Vaqueiro will moderate the exclusive town hall with Pope Francis, the first pontiff from Latin America. Elected in March 2013, Francis is also the first pope from the Western Hemisphere. Vaqueiro, an award-winning journalist, is the anchor of Noticias Telemundo, which airs weekdays at 6:30 PM ET/5:30 CT.
