Rumbo Al Mundial: Telemundo Presents 11 World Cup Qualifiers Sept. 4-9

Argentina vs. Venezuela, Brazil vs. Chile, and decisive CONCACAF matchups air across Universo and Telemundo Deportes Ahora

MIAMI, Fla. – September 2, 2025 – Telemundo’s “Rumbo al Mundial” series continues with four days of exclusive coverage of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers from South America and CONCACAF. From September 4–9, 11 live matches will air across Universo and Telemundo Deportes Ahora, featuring reigning world champions Argentina, powerhouse Brazil, and a tightly contested final stage of CONCACAF qualification.

Coverage kicks off Thursday, September 4 with Argentina vs. Venezuela at 7:30 p.m. ET on Universo with Andres Cantor calling the match alongside analyst Diego Balado. While Argentina has already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, this match marks a historic moment: Lionel Messi’s final competitive game in Buenos Aires with the national team. Venezuela, still fighting for a playoff spot, will look to spoil the celebration.

Later that evening, Luis Omar Tapia and Natalia Astrain will lead the call for Brazil vs. Chile at 9:30 p.m. ET on Universo. Already qualified, this gives head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s an opportunity to continue molding the team that will compete in the World Cup. The Brazilian squad includes 12 Premier League players, such as Chelsea’s 18-year-old sensation Estêvão, along with Marquinhos (Champions League winner) and Raphinha (Barcelona). Chile, already eliminated, will look to test Ancelotti’s approach.

Starting Friday, September 5, Telemundo shifts focus to the final stage of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying, where 12 teams across three groups compete for direct qualification and playoff berths. Group winners will qualify directly, while the top two second-place teams advance to the international playoffs.

Key matchups include:

  • Costa Rica vs. Nicaragua (Sept. 5, 10 p.m. ET, Universo) – Now led by Mexican head coach Miguel “Piojo” Herrera, whose exclusive interview is featured in the Desde Adentro special on Telemundo Deportes Ahora
  • Honduras vs. Haiti (Sept. 5, 8 p.m. ET, Universo) and Honduras vs. Nicaragua (Sept. 9, 10 p.m. ET, Universo) – Both covered with guest analyst and Honduran legend Carlos Pavón
  • Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Trinidad & Tobago will also chase critical points in hopes of competing in the tournament.
