MIAMI, Fla. – January 15, 2025 – Telemundo, the Spanish-language home of the U.S. National Teams, kicks off 2025 with an exciting doubleheader of U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) friendlies. The squad takes on Venezuela and Costa Rica in matchups airing Saturday, January 18, at 2:30 p.m. ET on Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock followed by the clash on Wednesday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo and Peacock.
The USMNT faces an exciting challenge as they square off against Venezuela, a competitive CONMEBOL team, marking the first test head coach Mauricio Pochettino faces against a non-CONCACAF opponent. With a dynamic, youthful roster featuring players of diverse backgrounds and dual or triple nationalities, the USMNT is brimming with talent and potential as they continue to grow on the international stage.
Telemundo’s broadcast of the January 18 matchup against Venezuela in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, will feature an all-star commentary team led by Emmy Award-winning host Miguel Gurwitz. Joining him are play-by-play announcer Jorge Calvo, former Mexican National Team standout Manuel Sol, and professional soccer coach and analyst Natalia Astrain. Renowned sportscaster Copán Álvarez will report from the sidelines, delivering exclusive insights and interviews to keep fans connected to every moment of the action.
The January 22 clash against Costa Rica in Orlando, FL, will see legendary Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Andrés Cantor at the mic, joined by Manuel Sol for expert analysis, with Copán Álvarez once again providing live updates and stories from the field. Adding to the excitement, former Mexican National Team coach and Telemundo analyst Miguel “Piojo” Herrera will make his debut as Costa Rica’s manager for this friendly match.
