MIAMI/NEW YORK – October 3, 2024 – Noticias Telemundo and Radio Ambulante Studios, the pioneering Spanish-language podcast company, today announced the premiere of a new limited series podcast, “El péndulo.” Hosted by Noticias Telemundo’s Julio Vaqueiro, the six-episode series explores the issues motivating Latino voters in key battleground states who may cast the deciding votes in the presidential election.

The Spanish-language series offers a nuanced look at Latino voters, the second largest group of voting-age Americans. Overall, an estimated 36.2 million Latinos are eligible to vote in November. As Election Day approaches, the path to the White House is widely expected to go through hotly contested swing states – many of which have seen an increase in Latino voters since the 2020 election.

With original reporting from the award-winning teams of journalists at Radio Ambulante Studios and Noticias Telemundo, the series looks at the politically diverse Latino electorates in Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina and Florida. Through interviews and on-the-ground reporting, the series captures the contrasting voices of Latino voters and the issues they care about most.

“The evolution of Latino voters is a critically important story in this year’s elections,” said Gemma García, Executive Vice President of News at Telemundo. “This collaboration between Noticias Telemundo and Radio Ambulante Studios goes beyond the polling numbers and data points to hear directly from Latino voters.”

“Our aim is to understand the issues that are top of mind for Latinos, a diverse and often misunderstood community,” said Daniel Alarcon, Executive Producer at Radio Ambulante Studios.

Available today, the first episode of “El péndulo” – “The Pendulum” in English – looks at Pennsylvania, where Latinos are the fastest-growing demographic group and make up an emerging majority of residents in a stretch of small and mid-sized cities in northeastern Pennsylvania known as the “Latino Belt.” An estimated 615,000 Latinos are eligible to vote in Pennsylvania this year, according to the Pew Research Center. Four years ago, the state’s winner in the presidential election was determined by 80,000 votes. The episode examines Latino voter views in Hazleton, home to a large Dominican-American community.

Upcoming episodes will be released every Thursday through Election Day, with a final post-election episode. The serie’s Executive Producer is Alana Casanova-Burgess, an award-winning journalist and host of the bilingual podcast “La Brega.”

“El péndulo” is available on podcast platforms including iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Spotify. It can also be listened to on Radio Ambulante Studio’s podcast series feed Central and through feed drops on the podcast shows Radio Ambulante and El hilo. Video versions of the podcast will be available on Noticias Telemundo’s YouTube channel and NoticiasTelemundo.com. The podcast series will also be available through in-person “Listening Clubs” events organized by Radio Ambulante Studios in Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania and New York.
