Miami, FL, October 2, 2024 – The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards will present Colombian singer-songwriter J Balvin with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award for his outstanding philanthropic efforts through his Vibra En Alta Foundation. The artist will also perform at the prestigious awards show, which will be broadcast on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 9pm/8c on Telemundo, and simultaneously on the Telemundo App, Peacock, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.

J Balvin has achieved remarkable success in the Latin music industry, selling over 35 million records worldwide. He has made history as the first Latino artist to headline major global music events such as Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Lollapalooza. Recognized by the Guinness World Records as a “leader of a second-generation reggaeton,” J Balvin continues to push boundaries and redefine Latin music.
Recently, J Balvin released his highly anticipated seventh studio album, “Rayo,” which features an impressive lineup of Latin music’s biggest stars and reggaeton’s new wave of artists, including Bad Gyal, Chencho Corleone, Omar Courtz, Ryan Castro, Saiko, Quevedo and more. The album showcases J Balvin’s versatility and his ability to collaborate with diverse artists, further solidifying his position as a trailblazer in the industry.
Beyond his musical achievements, J Balvin has made a significant impact through his non-profit organization, Vibra en Alta Foundation, based in his native Colombia. The foundation aims to elevate young individuals, supporting their educational journeys, helping them discover their passions and providing them with the necessary opportunities to pursue their dreams.
Among the achievements of the Vibra en Alta Foundation are its partnership with Corporación Hogar to build a Comprehensive Service Center in Medellín, benefiting 500 children and adolescents. The foundation also supported La Bellota, sponsoring 61 youths to express their talents under a comprehensive orientation model that allows them to choose a training process aligned with their passion. In addition, the foundation built the Tarima Arte Vivo, a stage for emerging artists from the 13th commune to present their talents to the community; and they created El Balcón de Los Artistas, a dance school in Manrique that serves 600 children. The organization is currently building the Medellin Music Lab, a public recording studio in the Popular – Commune 1 for emerging artists.
The Billboard Spirit of Hope Award, named in honor of the legendary Selena, celebrates artists who have made extraordinary contributions to humanitarian causes beyond their musical endeavors. Previous recipients of this notable award include Carlos Santana, Carlos Vives, Daddy Yankee, El General, Emmanuel, Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Juan Luis Guerra, Karol G, Los Tigres del Norte, Luis Fonsi, Maná, Marc Anthony, Ricardo Montaner, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Soraya, Olga Tañón, and Willy Chirino.
