Telemundo Presents the Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games for the First Time Live This Sunday, August 11

Olympic Hosts Jessica Carrillo and Miguel Gurwitz Will Be in Paris for The Grand Event 

Celebration of Our Hispanic Athletes and Their Achievements at These Olympic Games 

MIAMI, FLA. – August 9, 2024 – For the first time, Telemundo, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will provide live coverage of the Closing Ceremony this Sunday, August 11 from 2:30 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. ET on Telemundo, Telemundo.com, Telemundo App and Peacock. 

Coverage will be anchored by Telemundo’s Olympic hosts, Emmy Award-winning Miguel Gurwitz along with sports and entertainment anchor Jessica Carrillo, live from Paris. Anchors Copan Alvarez and Carlota Vizmanos will join the show from Telemundo Center in Miami. Together, they will celebrate the conclusion of 17 historic days of great sporting feats achieved by our Hispanic athletes. 

The Stade de France will be transformed into a giant concert hall with more than a hundred performers, acrobats, dancers and circus artists. The traditional Closing Ceremony events, such as the flags of nations, the athletes’ parade and the presentation of the Olympic flag to the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee, will mark the official end of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and symbolize the transition to the next host city, celebrating global unity and the enduring spirit of the Olympic Games. 

Just 21 days ago, the network presented the Opening Ceremony for the first time generating a broadcast record with 3.5 million live minutes, a 286% increase over the most-watched live broadcast in Tokyo 2021 (the Mexico vs. Brazil semifinal on August 3, 2021, with 906,000 live minutes).

NBC and Peacock will present live coverage of the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 26, beginning at Noon ET. Telemundo will provide Spanish-language coverage beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Primetime coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Peacock. The NBC broadcast network and streaming service Peacock will be the company’s primary platforms for its coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11, with Telemundo providing extensive Spanish-language coverage.
