MIAMI, Fla. – June 11, 2024 – Telemundo, the exclusive Spanish-language home of FIFA, commemorates the two-year countdown to FIFA World Cup 26™ with a robust lineup of promotional activations across Telemundo and NBCUniversal platforms anchored on a special on-site production and fan experience at the USMNT match against Brazil airing on Telemundo, Universo and Peacock this Wednesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. ET from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL. 

Telemundo and Peacock will serve as the exclusive Spanish-language home of the FIFA World Cup 26™ kicking off June 11, 2026.  The tournament returns to U.S. soil after 30 years with an expanded format and multiple hosts, adding a historical dimension to the event and marking a cultural moment never before seen in the United States. The tournament will take place in three countries – Canada, Mexico, and the United States – across 16 cities, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches over 39 days for the first time. 

“For us, the World Cup is not just a sporting event, it is a defining cultural milestone, and this 2026 World Cup will make its mark for the sport in America, Latinos, and Telemundo,” said Eli Velazquez, EVP, Sports, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “From promotional spots to activations at Universal Theme Parks and programming takeovers, Telemundo kicks off the countdown to what promises to be the largest sporting event in the world.” 

To commemorate the two-year milestone to the World Cup, the network will roll out a comprehensive series of activations across Telemundo programming and sporting events and select NBCUniversal platforms.  

The spirit of the celebration will be anchored by a 30- and 60-second bespoke feature titled “La Casa del Mundial – Verano 2026” running alongside key programming, including the USMNT v. Colombia match and on the jumbotron of the Chivas v. America friendly in San Jose as well as across all Telemundo’s digital and social media platforms. The activations will ramp up throughout the week across key NBCUniversal News Group programming, as well as across all Telemundo Network news and entertainment shows, and stations and affiliates. In addition, Telemundo’s state-of-the-art headquarters in Miami, Telemundo Center, and Universal Parks across the country will dress up in FIFA World Cup 26™ branding with a screen takeover. 

The celebration wraps up with an immersive and interactive fan experience inside the USMNT v. Brazil match and a special guest appearance. Saturday Night Live’s Marcello Hernández and Telemundo Deportes team will be onsite in Orlando, FL to commemorate the moment that celebrates the two-year mark during the match enhanced by Telemundo’s FIFA World Cup 26™ branding and promos across Camping World Stadium’s signage. 

The Telemundo Deportes award-winning commentary team will lead the coverage calling all the action and providing in-depth game analysis, with Carlota Vizmanos and Copan Alvarez serving as hosts. The complete commentary team will be in venue featuring play-by-play Andres Cantor and analysis by former Mexican footballer and Olympian Manuel Sol and former American soccer veteran, coach, and Hall of Famer, Tab Ramos
