Camila Cabello and Kali Uchis Join Esteemed List of Latin Female Artists to Be Honored at This Year’s Billboard Latin Women in Music Special Airing Exclusively on Telemundo on Sunday, June 9 at 9 PM/8C

Miami, FL, May 23, 2024 – Telemundo and Billboard announced international megastar Camila Cabello and globally recognized Colombian star Kali Uchis to join this year’s top-notch roster of Latin female artists being honored at the upcoming Billboard Latin Women in Music special, airing exclusively on Telemundo on June 9, 2024, at 9pm/8c.  Hosted by Jacqueline Bracamontes, the two-hour music special that celebrates Latin female artists proactively working for positive change, inclusion, and gender parity in the music industry will also stream simultaneously on the Telemundo app and Peacock.

Singer-songwriter Camila Cabello’s success and contributions have earned her the honor of “Global Impact,” which recognizes female artists who have an exceptional ability to connect with audiences worldwide, not only through their music but also by positively influencing popular culture, as well as serving as ambassadors of Latin culture on a global scale. This versatile artist of Cuban and Mexican descent uses her voice to create major global hits and to connect with her audience through her platforms, promoting important causes she is passionate about, such as immigration, diversity, mental health, women’s empowerment and many others that resonate with Latinos today.

Cabello’s philanthropic work is not only driven by her own passions but the communities she serves. Drawing on her experience as an immigrant in this country, she has devoted recent years to ensuring that everyone feels a sense of belonging and inclusion. From partnering with This Is About Humanity and Miami Freedom Project to host community events for new immigrant families in Miami to raising half a million dollars with Equality Florida and Lambda Legal to combat harmful legislation in Florida targeting the LGBTQ+ community, her dedication to meeting the moment is unwavering. Over the years, she’s also launched the Healing Justice Project to provide mental health resources to BIPOC organizers across the country advancing racial, immigrant, and environmental justice.

Colombian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer Kali Uchis has quickly climbed the charts since releasing her first album in 2018, earning her this year’s “Rising Star” honor, a recognition and celebration of an emerging talent’s success in growing their musical prowess and solidifying their place in the industry. Alternating between English and Spanish-language projects with unparalleled fluidity, her genre-defying music that blends elements of R&B, neo-soul, pop, and Latin rhythms has earned her several of the industry’s most prestigious awards.  Her smash hit “telepatía” from her album Sin Miedo has been streamed more than 2 billion times to date and is the Billboard Hot 100’s longest-running Spanish song by a solo act this decade with a 23-week streak.

Throughout her career, Uchis has collaborated and shared the stage with today’s biggest artists in both the English and Spanish music spaces and has toured the world selling out arenas and playing much-lauded sets at world-recognized festivals.  Her most recent album Orquídeas, showcases her musical versatility and deepens her connection to Latin music while breaking industry records, with its debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, Top Latin Albums chart, and Vinyl Sales chart—making her the first female artist in history to debut at #1 on the Vinyl Sales chart with a Spanish-language album.  Her perseverance and commitment to her art make her a role model for aspiring artists worldwide.

Other stars being honored this year include Ana Bárbara as “Lifetime Achievement,” Ángela Aguilar as “Musical Dynasty,” Gloria Estefan as “Legend,” and Kany García as “Spirit of Change.”

Billboard’s Latin Women in Music franchise recognizes the importance of Latin women in the music industry and honors those who have positively impacted Latin music and the industry the previous year.  The honors bestowed in 2023 included Shakira as Woman of the Year, Ana Gabriel as Living Legend, Emilia as Rising Star, and Thalia as Global Powerhouse, among others.
