Miami, FL, May 16, 2024 – Telemundo and Billboard announced additional honorees for the second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music special, airing exclusively on Telemundo on June 9, 2024 at 9pm/8c. International superstar Gloria Estefan and Regional Mexican star Ángela Aguilar will both be recognized at this event that celebrates Latin female artists proactively working for positive change, inclusion, and gender parity in the music industry.  The special will also stream simultaneously on the Telemundo app and Peacock.

International superstar Gloria Estefan is known worldwide as a singer, actress, Grammy-award winning composer, author, philanthropist, and humanitarian.  Considered one of the most recognized and beloved artists in the world, Billboard has named her the most successful Latin “crossover” artist of all time.  Her amazing trajectory has earned her the “Legend” honor, a special recognition awarded to outstanding female artists who have left a unique and immeasurable legacy and have significantly impacted the industry throughout their careers with their musical work.   This is an award for those women who have made a lasting mark, thanks to their artistic innovation, originality, cultural contributions, and influence, achieving legendary status in music history through their excellence.

Estefan’s ability to seamlessly incorporate her Cuban heritage into her music while appealing to mainstream audiences worldwide is remarkable. She helped break down cultural barriers and fostered greater appreciation for Latin music and culture. With more than 100 million records sold worldwide and countless awards and recognitions, she has released numerous hit songs that have become classics, not only topping charts, but also anthems for fans worldwide. Her enduring influence, musical talent, cultural impact, and resilience have earned her a well-deserved place as a legend in the music industry.

Ángela Aguilar, part of the esteemed Aguilar family, has carved out her own successful career with her voice and talent while preserving the roots and traditions of her family heritage. The “Musical Dynasty” honor recognizes artists who keep a familial artistic legacy alive and honor the musical dynasty to which they belong. Through her commitment to traditions, Aguilar lights the way for future generations and inspires others to maintain their cultural heritage.

At just 20 years old, the ‘Ranchera Protege’ has reached #1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay charts and is notable for being the youngest woman to top the regional Mexican Billboard charts, a genre traditionally dominated by men. Aguilar was featured in Billboard’s 21 under 21 in 2022 and 2023, received nominations at this year’s People Choice Awards, and has earned multiple Grammy nominations, underscoring her significant impact on the music industry.

A two-hour special hosted by Jacqueline Bracamontes, Billboard’s Latin Women in Music franchise recognizes the importance of Latin women in the music industry. It honors those who have positively impacted Latin music and the industry the previous year.  The honors bestowed in 2023 included Shakira as Woman of the Year, Ana Gabriel as Living Legend, Emilia as Rising Star, and Thalia as Global Powerhouse, among others.
