June 17, 2020 – During Pride month and with the backdrop of the nationwide protests following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and now Rayshard Brooks, NBC News NOW and NBC Out present Pride and Protest, a virtual discussion hosted by MSNBC’s Joshua Johnson and streaming on NBC News NOW on Thursday, June 18, at 8 p.m. ET.
The special will feature conversations with Eboné Bell (editor-in-chief of Tagg Magazine), Tre’vell Anderson (president of NABJLA, co-host of FANTI podcast), Alphonso David (president of Human Rights Campaign), Andrea Jenkins (VP of Minneapolis City Council), Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (Democrat of Philadelphia), Ianne Fields Stewart (activist, actor and founder of The Okra Project), Tiq Milan (writer and advocate) and Ashlee Marie Preston (media personality, activist and founder of YouAreEssential.org).
MSNBC anchor Joshua Johnson will moderate the discussions on being Black and queer in America in 2020.
