First Special, ‘Battlefield Space: To the Moon and Beyond,’ Airs Tonight on NBC News NOW at 9pm ET
December 13, 2022 – NBC News NOW, NBC News’ 24/7 streaming news network, will premiere a slate of new specials and documentaries before the end of the year. With these additions, NBC News NOW has launched more than 50 specials and documentaries in 2022.
The first special in the slate, Battlefield Space: To the Moon and Beyond, airs tonight at 9pm ET on NBC News NOW. The hour-long documentary, anchored by NBC News correspondent Tom Costello, goes in-depth on the challenges of a potential battlefield in space that is complex, congested and contested.
Tomorrow, NBC News NOW will air Epidemic of Hate: Antisemitism in America at 10:30pm ET, anchored by NBC News correspondent Jacob Soboroff. The 30-minute special explores the resurgence of antisemitism in America and what’s being done to combat extremism, featuring an exclusive interview with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
On Tuesday, Dec. 20, NBC News Chief International correspondent Keir Simmons anchors Scorched: East Africa’s Climate Crisis. The 30-minute special airs at 10:30pm ET and focuses on the climate crisis in East Africa and its impacts on famine and war.
On Wednesday, Dec. 21, NBC News correspondent Erin McLaughlin anchors Life, Death, and Liberation: Izium, Ukraine. For the special, NBC News spent weeks inside the bombed city of Izium, Ukraine, telling the stories of those who survived the worst of Russia’s war. The 30-minute special airs at 10:30pm ET.
On Friday, Dec. 23, Our Planet’s Future: Combatting Climate Change airs on NBC News NOW at 10:30pm ET. NBC News correspondent Jacob Soboroff takes a look back at another catastrophic year of extreme weather events fueled by climate change and the impact.
Before year end, NBC News NOW will also air 2022: Headlines, Highlights and History, looking back at the major news events of 2022 on Dec. 22. On New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Eve Fireworks Around the World returns to NBC News NOW, beginning at 9pm ET.
