Best Pictures: Real Life Stories Behind This Year’s Nominees Will Stream on NBC News NOW on Wednesday, March 23 at 10:30 p.m. ET
March 23, 2022 – NBC News NOW will present Best Pictures: Real Life Stories Behind This Year’s Nominees, a special hosted by Morning News NOW anchor Joe Fryer, that explores the true events, headliners and issues that inspired this year’s Oscar-nominated films and performances. The special airs tonight, March 23 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
The co-directors of the Oscar-nominated documentary Writing with Fire, Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, as well as Tony-winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia of tick, tick…BOOM! and RENT join the streaming special with Joe Fryer.
Plus, the special includes additional NBC News interviews with King Richard’s Will Smith, Don’t Look Up’s Leonardo DiCaprio, Belfast director Kenneth Branagh, West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose, Spencer star Kristen Stewart, and Summer of Soul director Questlove. Additional profiled films include The Power of the Dog, Being the Ricardos and The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
The special is the latest in the streaming network’s growing slate of original and special programming.
