The announcement was made by&nbsp;<strong>Sally Ramirez,&nbsp;<\/strong>Senior Vice President of News, NBC 5 Chicago \/ Telemundo Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his new role with&nbsp;<em>Noticiero Telemundo Chicago<\/em>, Gallego will deliver on-site breaking news and additional feature story reports for the station\u2019s late morning, afternoon, and evening newscasts. In addition, Gallego will handle additional anchoring duties throughout the week.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSantiago embodies the commitment, vision and drive to keep our local audience informed,\u201d said Ramirez. \u201cAdding Santiago to our acclaimed&nbsp;<em>Noticiero Telemundo&nbsp;<\/em>team is yet another example of our commitment to dedicated journalism for our Chicagoland viewing audience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2014, Gallego served as the primary anchor of&nbsp;<em>Noticias 60 Telemundo&nbsp;<\/em>at Telemundo 60 in San Antonio, TX (KVDA-TV), the local station serving the Spanish-speaking community in Central and South Texas. As a key member of the&nbsp;<em>Noticias 60 Telemundo&nbsp;<\/em>team, Gallego also delivered hundreds of breaking news reports in and around the San Antonio region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to joining Telemundo 60 San Antonio, Gallego worked as an associate producer for Telemundo\u2019s national&nbsp;<em>Noticias Telemundo&nbsp;<\/em>newscast, along with holding a producer position with the Telemundo News Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gallego is a nine-time&nbsp;<em>Lone Star Emmy<\/em>&nbsp;Award winner, including recognition as \u201cBest News Anchor in Texas\u201d<em>&nbsp;<\/em>in 2023.
