NEW YORK<\/strong>\u202f\u2013 (Aug. 14, 2024) \u2013 NBCUniversal Local today announced its Clear<\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong>The<\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong>Shelters<\/em><\/strong> television special hosted by actor, producer and singer-songwriter Amanda<\/strong> <\/strong>Seyfried<\/strong> will be presented on NBC stations nationwide, as well as on COZI TV and the NBC-owned stations\u2019 streaming channels, beginning this Friday, Aug. 16 (check local listings.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 30-minute show celebrates NBC and Telemundo stations\u2019 10th annual nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign, which began Aug. 10 and continues through Sept. 10. Since its 2015 inception, Clear The Shelters<\/em> has led to more than one million pet adoptions and raised more than $4.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seyfried has earned more than 70 acting credits since 2004, including the acclaimed films Mank<\/em>, Mama Mia!<\/em> and Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em>, and hit series The Dropout<\/em> and The Crowded Room<\/em>. She is starring in and executive producing the upcoming Peacock series Long Bright River<\/em>, based on the Liz Moore book, in which she plays Mickey, a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s show will mark the 10th<\/sup> anniversary of Clear The Shelters<\/em>with a look back at some of the incredible adoption stories the initiative helped establish throughout the years. In addition, a feature from The Dodo<\/a>, the leading animal and pet brand and longtime Clear<\/em> <\/em>The<\/em>Shelters<\/em> media partner, will highlight one of their \u2018Dodo Dream Dates\u2019 featuring actor Maggie Q and a shelter dog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will also highlight Little Shelter\u2019s \u2018Silver Seniors\u2019 program, which pairs older pets with loving homes, as well as the Niagara SPCA\u2019s pizza box and field trip initiative, which \u2018thinks outside the box\u2019 to find their shelter pets new homes. Plus, NBC 4 New York\u2019s Lauren Scala details how fostering a shelter pet can be a life-changing experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/a>As part of the monthlong milestone campaign, NBC and Telemundo stations across the nation are partnering with more than 1,400 animal shelters and rescues in their communities to promote pet adoption and raise critical funds to support their operations. The 2023 campaign resulted in more than 158,000 adoptions \u2013 lifting the all-time adoption total past one million \u2013 and raised over $575,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hill’s Pet Nutrition<\/a>, a global leader in science-based pet nutrition, is the national sponsor and partner of Clear The Shelters<\/em> for the seventh consecutive campaign. To support successful adoptions during the campaign, Hill\u2019s Pet Nutrition will provide adoption kits to help new pet parents and their pets get a healthy start on their new life together. Available at participating shelters, the adopter kits include starter bags of Hill\u2019s Science Diet, coupons, pet-parenting tips and other supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greater Good Charities<\/a>, a global nonprofit that works to help people, pets, and the planet, is the fundraising partner for Clear The Shelters<\/em>. Donations can be made now through Sept. 30 at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.<\/a> Through the online platform, built by Fundraise Up, donors can cover transaction fees so that 100 percent of funds go directly to the shelter or rescue of their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual pet adoptions are also returning for the sixth consecutive campaign through WeRescue<\/a>. The WeRescue website and app enable users to browse adoptable pets in their area by breed, gender, size and other factors, submit their adoption applications, and ask questions directly to shelters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
