NBC & Telemundo Stations are Partnering with More Than 1,400 Shelters to Promote Pet Adoption & Fundraising Through Sept. 10<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW YORK<\/strong>\u202f\u2013 (Aug. 9, 2024) \u2013 NBCUniversal Local\u2019s 10th<\/sup> annual Clear The Shelters<\/em> nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign begins tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 10, and concludes Sept. 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the monthlong milestone campaign, NBC and Telemundo stations across the nation are partnering with more than 1,400 animal shelters and rescues in their communities to promote pet adoption and raise critical funds to support their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its 2015 inception, Clear The Shelters<\/em> has led to more than one million pet adoptions and raised more than $4.5 million. The 2023 campaign resulted in more than 158,000 adoptions \u2013 lifting the all-time adoption total past one million \u2013 and raised over $575,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 10th<\/sup> anniversary Clear The Shelters<\/em> campaign features include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a>Online Fundraising<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greater Good Charities<\/a>, a global nonprofit organization that works to help people, pets, and the planet, is the fundraising partner for Clear The Shelters<\/em>. Donations can be made now through Sept. 30 at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.<\/a> Through the online platform, built by Fundraise Up, donors can cover transaction fees so that 100 percent of funds go directly to the shelter or rescue of their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual Adoptions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual pet adoptions are also returning for the sixth consecutive campaign through WeRescue<\/a>. The WeRescue website and app enable users to browse adoptable pets in their area by breed, gender, size and other factors, submit their adoption applications, and ask questions directly to shelters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Sponsor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hill’s Pet Nutrition<\/a>, a global leader in science-based pet nutrition, is serving as the national sponsor and partner of Clear The Shelters<\/em> for the seventh consecutive campaign. To support successful adoptions during the campaign, Hill\u2019s Pet Nutrition will provide adoption kits to help new pet parents and their pets get a healthy start on their new life together. Available at participating shelters, the adopter kits include starter bags of Hill\u2019s Science Diet, coupons, pet-parenting tips and other supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good Flight Pet Airlift<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Aug. 13<\/strong>, NBCU Local, Greater Good Charities, Hill\u2019s Pet Nutrition and The Animal Rescue Site<\/a> will conduct a fifth life-saving pet airlift <\/strong>to transport more than 100 cats and dogs from overpopulated shelters in Louisiana and Alabama to New Jersey, where they will be received by several shelters, provided with any needed medical care and placed for adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEGA Adoption Event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Clear The Shelters<\/em> adoption event will take place Aug. 17-18<\/strong> in North Texas, the birthplace of Clear The Shelters<\/em>, to help celebrate the campaign\u2019s 10th anniversary. In partnership with NBC5 and Telemundo 39, dozens of area animal shelters will convene at the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, to help find new homes for more than 1,000 pets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clear The Shelters<\/em><\/strong> Special Host<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actor, producer and singer-songwriter Amanda Seyfried<\/strong> \u2013 who has starred in acclaimed films such as Mank<\/em>, Mama Mia!<\/em> and Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em>, and hit series The Dropout<\/em> and The Crowded Room<\/em> \u2013 joined this year\u2019s campaign to serve as the host of the Clear The Shelters<\/em> half-hour television special, which will premiere on NBC stations and COZI TV nationwide on Aug. 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
