NEW YORK\u202f\u2013 (Aug. 1, 2024) \u2013<\/strong> NBCUniversal Local announced actor, producer and singer-songwriter Amanda Seyfried<\/strong> has joined its 10th<\/sup> annual Clear The Shelters<\/em> nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign, which will be held Aug. 10 to Sept. 10. As part of her role, she will serve as the host of the Clear The Shelters<\/em> special premiering on NBC stations nationwide on Aug. 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an actor, Seyfried has earned more than 70 credits since 2004, including roles in acclaimed films Mank<\/em>, Mama Mia! <\/em>and Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em>, and hit series The Dropout<\/em> and The Crowded Room<\/em>. She is starring in and executive producing the upcoming Peacock series Long Bright River<\/em>, based on the Liz Moore book, in which she plays Mickey, a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seyfried rose to international fame after appearing in the 2004 hit comedy Mean Girls<\/em>, written by Tina Fey, following roles in the series As The World Turns<\/em> and All My Children<\/em> from 1999 to 2003. She has won 25 awards \u2013 including a Primetime Emmy Award for The Dropout<\/em> \u2013 and received more than 70 nominations for her acting, including Academy Awards and Golden Globes nominations for Mank<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clear The Shelters<\/em> has led to more than one million pet adoptions and raised millions of dollars for animal shelters since its 2015 inception. During the monthlong campaign, NBC and Telemundo stations across the nation partner with shelters in their communities to promote pet adoption and raise critical funds. To celebrate the campaign\u2019s 10th year, the extended fundraising period begins today, Aug. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a>Campaign fundraising will again be led by Greater Good Charities<\/a>, a global nonprofit and longtime campaign partner. Donations can be made now through Sept. 30 at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.<\/a> Through the online platform, built by Fundraise Up, donors have the option to cover transaction fees so that 100 percent of the funds go directly to the shelter or rescue of their choice. Hill’s Pet Nutrition and The Animal Rescue Site provide additional funds to The Clear The Shelters<\/em> Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual pet adoptions are also returning for the sixth consecutive campaign through WeRescue<\/a>. The WeRescue website and app enable users to browse adoptable pets in their area by breed, gender, size and other factors, submit their adoption applications, and ask questions directly to shelters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Hill’s Pet Nutrition<\/a>, a global leader in science-based pet nutrition, is serving as the national sponsor and partner of Clear The Shelters<\/em> for the seventh consecutive campaign. To support the 10th anniversary of Clear The Shelters<\/em>, Hill\u2019s Pet Nutrition will provide adoption kits to help new pet parents and their pets get a healthy start on their new life together. Kits containing starter bags of Hill\u2019s science-led nutrition, coupons, pet-parenting tips and other supplies will be available at select shelters during the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details on 2024 Clear The Shelters<\/em> highlights, activations and initiatives, including details on the NBC and Telemundo specials, will be announced at a later time.
