Hill’s Pet Nutrition Returns for 8th Consecutive Year as Lead National Sponsor of NBCUniversal Local’s ‘Clear The Shelters’

Global Leader in Science-Led Pet Nutrition and Animal Welfare to Support 11th Annual Nationwide Pet Adoption & Donation Campaign Aug. 1 to 31

‘Clear The Shelters’ Has Led to Nearly 1.2 Million Adoptions & More Than $5 Million in Donations Since 2015

NEW YORK– July 17, 2025 – Hill’s Pet Nutrition, a global leader in science-based pet nutrition and leading supporter of animal welfare, is returning as the national sponsor of Clear The Shelters – NBCUniversal Local’s annual pet adoption and donation campaign – for the eighth consecutive year.

Clear The Shelters is returning for its 11th consecutive campaign from Aug. 1 to 31, which features an extended fundraising effort taking place now through Sept. 15. Clear The Shelters has led to nearly 1.2 million pet adoptions and raised more than $5 million for animal shelters since its 2015 inception.

To support the 2025 Clear The Shelters, Hill’s Pet Nutrition will provide up to $25,000 to match donations made to the Clear The Shelters general fund led by Greater Good Charities to directly benefit participating shelters. Hill’s support also extends to in-kind food donations and adoption kits at select participating shelters during the campaign, which will include starter bags of Hill’s Science Diet foods, coupons and other supplies to help shelter pets and their new parents get a healthy start on their new life together.

Clear The Shelters directly aligns with Hill’s Pet Nutrition’s mission to support shelter pets in need through the Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program, which partners with shelters 365 days a year by providing science-led nutrition to feed the pets in their care, as well as financial support and other needed resources such as pet food for community food pantries. For more than 20 years, the Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program has provided more than $300 million in pet food to shelters across North America and has helped more than 15 million pets find new homes. As part of Clear The Shelters, NBC- and Telemundo-owned and affiliated stations across the nation are partnering with animal shelters in their communities to promote pet adoption and raise funds for animal welfare. Donations to the general fund can be made now through Sept. 15, and donations directly to individual shelters can be made from Aug. 1 to 31 at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.

The 2024 Clear The Shelters set a single-year adoption record by helping nearly 170,000 pets find new homes, and raised more than $500,000 for participating shelters. More than 1,600 shelters representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam – along with 139 NBC and Telemundo stations – participated in the 10th annual campaign, which was held Aug. 10 to Sept. 10, 2024.
