NEW YORK, NY – (September 18, 2023) – NBC 4 New York/WNBC and Telemundo 47/WNJU are offering an exciting opportunity to a local youth choir this holiday season. Starting today and continuing through October 12, local choral groups are invited to visit nbcnewyork.com/choir or telemundo47.com/choir and submit an entry for this year’s Star Choir competition.
“Our Star Choir winners are the highlight of the ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’ broadcast. The talent, energy and passion of these young performers is remarkable. We cannot wait to welcome the winners to 30 Rock this holiday season,” said Eric Lerner, President, and General Manager of NBC 4 New York.
“This is an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for so many talented, young students in our community. Past competition winners have been an inspiration for us all, and we are eager to build on this success in this year’s contest,” said Cristina Schwarz, President, and General Manager of Telemundo 47.
Specific holiday singing competition rules include:
- The contest is restricted to participants residing within WNBC’s viewing areas in New York, New Jersey, Fairfield County, Connecticut and Pike County, Pennsylvania.
- Singing groups must have a minimum of 10 members and a maximum of 35 members.
- All entrants must be between the ages of 6 and 18 years of age.
- Entrants can submit a video performance of any holiday-themed song, up to 3 minutes long.
Entrants chosen for a second round:
- Will be required to submit formal parental consent to proceed in the process.
- Will be asked to perform and submit an original, :90 second performance of “Jingle Bells,” Jolly Old St. Nicholas” or “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
