PHOENIX, Ariz. – (May 21, 2025) – Telemundo 39 / KTAZ and Telemundo 40 / KHRR, part of NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group, announced today that Maria de los Angeles Franco has been named weekend news anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. and multimedia journalist for Telemundo Arizona Responde.
Franco joined KTAZ and KHRR in 2023 and has since been contributing to weekend editions of Noticiero Telemundo Arizona. Since November 2024, she has played a key role in Telemundo Arizona Responde, where she produces the consumer investigative segments during newscasts from Monday to Wednesday.
“Maria’s passion for journalism and her strong connection with our community make her the right person for this role,” said Noe Gonzalez, Vice President of News for Telemundo Arizona. “Her dedication to reporting stories that matter will help us further our commitment to serving our audiences with excellence. Prior to joining Noticiero Telemundo Arizona, Franco was news anchor at Globovisión in Venezuela from 2019 to 2020. Before that, she served as international news anchor for Canal 1 in Caracas from 2017 to 2019. Franco earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies and law and a postgraduate degree in government and public policies from the Central University of Venezuela. She is currently studying journalism at Mesa Community College.
Noticiero Telemundo Arizona is presented on Telemundo 39 and Telemundo 40 Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m., and weekends at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
