Chicago, IL (May 14, 2025) – NBC 5 Chicago’s Emmy-nominated lifestyle & entertainment program Chicago Today will take viewers on the road as the popular hosting duo of Cortney Hall and Matt Rodrigues head to New York City for a full week of festive content showcasing the latest happenings from one of the world’s most popular entertainment destinations.
Beginning Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23, Matt & Cortney will take viewers on a special trip throughout NYC showcasing Times Square, Broadway, Central Park and the iconic 30 Rockefeller Center featuring exclusive interviews with the biggest stars of NBC’s most popular shows and much more. MONDAY (May 19 at 11:45 a.m.) – Times Square Kick Off!: Cortney & Matt kick off “NYC Week” in Times Square as they prep to take the city by storm! In addition to taking in the spectacle of the most city’s popular tourist attraction, the duo chat with NBC News legend Lester Holt who discusses his storied career, along with his upcoming final days as chief anchor of NBC Nightly News.
TUESDAY (May 20 at 11:45 a.m.) – It’s Broadway, Baby!: Chicago Today celebrates Chicago roots on Broadway stages as Matt & Cortney chat with former Blacklist star / Chicago native Harry Lennix, who has taken the Steppenwolf Theater’s acclaimed epic family drama “Purpose” to the Broadway stage. The hosts also chat with Hinsdale native Mac Brandt about what it’s like sharing the stage with Hollywood superstar George Clooney in the Broadway hottest show, “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
WEDNESDAY (May 21 at 11:45 a.m.) – A Walk in the Park: Cortney & Matt take viewers on a stroll through one of NYC’s most visually-stunning centerpieces, Central Park, which will be followed up by a special visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show. Kelly fans will be treated to an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the popular talk show as Matt makes a special guest appearance on the show to promote his supplemental It’s OK to Ask Questions interview series on individuals fighting cancer. Plus – Matt & Cortney check out the menu at the famed “I’ll have what she’s having” NYC eatery, Katz’s Deli.
THURSDAY (May 22 at 11:45 a.m.) – Home Away from Home: Chicago Today sets up shop from the steps of 30 Rock as they offer some of Chicago’s finest Malort to Northwestern alum / SNL alum / Late Night host Seth Meyers. Matt & Cortney also catch up with some former interns who are now proudly repping NBC Chicago at 30 Rock.
FRIDAY (May 23 at 11:30 a.m.) – Welcome to The TODAY Show!: Cortney & Matt close out “Chicago Today in New York” week from the 30 Rock Plaza with a special visit to The TODAY Show. With their exclusive backstage pass, the duo chat with hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin at the TODAY anchor desk, visit with Jenna & Friends host Jenna Bush Hager and catch-up with NBC News meteorologist / 3rd Hour of TODAY co-host Dylan Dreyer. In addition, Cortney & Matt check out everything 30 Rock has to offer from top to bottom.
