Yilber Vega Named General Assignment Reporter for Telemundo 47/WNJU

FORT LEE, NJ – March 31, 2025 – Telemundo 47/WNJU-TV announced the addition of veteran broadcast journalist Yilber Vega to their award-winning news team. A seasoned reporter with thirty years of professional experience, Vega begins work today as a general assignment reporter.  

“Yilber has covered important court cases from Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to Harvey Weinstein, as well as presidential elections and extreme weather events such as Superstorm Sandy. He is professional, hard-working and shares our station’s deep commitment to the community. We are thrilled to welcome Yilber into the Telemundo 47 family as our newest general assignment reporter,” said Alexa Rodriguez, Telemundo 47 News Director. 

Vega has been working with Telemundo 47 as a freelance journalist since June 2024. Prior to this time, he worked as a New York-based multiplatform journalist for CNN en Español, covering breaking news and general assignments from across the United States and around the world. 

Before joining CNN, Yilber was a NY correspondent for the Colombian TV Networks NTN24 and RCN, as well as for the Colombian radio stations La FM and Caracol Radio. He was also a newscaster for Radio Unica New York. Yilber began his career in Colombia as political and governmental reporter for several Radio Networks and for the Channel 1 TV newscast show “Noticiero de las Siete”.

Vega is bilingual in Spanish and English. He is a native of Colombia and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogóta.
