MIRAMAR, Fla. – March 6, 2025 – Telemundo Station Group, part of NBCUniversal Local, will provide exclusive onsite news coverage surrounding the El Clásico de México match between Liga MX’s Chivas Guadalajara and Club América across the Telemundo-owned stations’ newscasts, starting Friday, March 7.
The coverage will be led by Telemundo 48 El Paso sports anchor and reporter Emmanuel Esparza, who will be reporting from Guadalajara, the site of the historic rivalry match, which will be presented live on Telemundo, Universo and Peacock this Saturday, March 8, at 9:30 p.m. ET with pregame coverage kicking off at 9 p.m. ET.
Leading up to and after the matchup, Esparza will deliver extensive coverage on the top El Clásico de México news and storylines. The reporting will feature fans of both clubs, including their expectations and predictions, the celebratory festival taking place, and will showcase the Chivas Museum and Akron stadium.
El Clásico de México highlights two of Liga MX’s most popular teams and biggest rivals with passionate fanbases across Mexico and the United States. This year, América looks to keep their title of Liga MX Champion for a fourth consecutive time. Meanwhile, Chivas is coming off a last-gasp winner against Pumas on Saturday, but their week has been busy, with the naming of Gerardo Espinoza as the new head coach.
Viewers can look for the special reports through their local Telemundo-owned stations programming during afternoon and evening newscasts.
