NEEDHAM, MA – (September 13, 2024) – Telemundo Boston / WNEU, part of NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group, today announced that Luis Matute has been promoted to reporter for its consumer investigative unit, Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra Responde, which is exclusively dedicated to helping local audiences resolve consumer-related issues. Since its launch, the unit has recovered over $1.2 million.
Matute joined Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra – the newscast presented across Telemundo Boston, Telemundo Connecticut / WRDM, and Telemundo Providence / WRIW – in 2020 as a reporter.

Previously, Matute worked as reporter, anchor and producer for WFMZ-TV in Allentown, Pa. He also worked as producer, reporter, and presenter in Honduras, including producing and presenting daily content for the National Association of Radio Broadcasters of Honduras (ANARH).
Matute is a two-time Emmy Award winner, recognized for his outstanding work on Las Huellas de Maria, a special five-part series about the devastation left by Hurricane María in Puerto Rico, and Reading Massacre, a report made less than 24 hours after a quadruple homicide in Reading, Pa. He holds a degree in journalism from the National Autonomous University of Honduras in the Sula Valley and an associate degree in applied science for digital video production.
