SAN JOSE, CA – November 28, 2023 – Telemundo 48 / KSTS today announced the appointment of Marcelo Rivera as the new weekend weather anchor. Rivera will deliver Northern California’s most accurate weather forecasts on “Noticiero Telemundo 48 al Mediodía” and on Telemundo 48 weekend newscasts.

Currently a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology at Mississippi State University, Rivera’s passion for weather was ignited at the age of five when Hurricane Hugo swept through his native Puerto Rico. His diverse background includes roles as a Data & Management Specialist for a private company and an Associate Registrar at universities in Puerto Rico and Texas.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Marcelo’s journey has woven through different disciplines and geographic locations, culminating in his final year of study in Operational Meteorology and Television. His academic achievements also include a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ana F. Mendez University and a master’s degree in Labor Relations from Interamerican University in Puerto Rico.
