NEW YORK – (July 27, 2023) – NBCUniversal Local, Greater Good CharitiesHill’s Pet Nutrition and The Animal Rescue Site are partnering on another special Clear The Shelters life-saving pet airlift mission expected to transport approximately 250 shelter cats and dogs on Wednesday, Aug. 2, to celebrate the return of NBC and Telemundo stations’ annual pet adoption and donation campaign, which begins Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The Clear The Shelters airlift – part of Greater Good Charities’ ‘Good Flights’ program and funded by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and The Animal Rescue Site – will feature cats and dogs from overpopulated shelters in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana, including harder-to-place or vulnerable pets, like dogs with asymptomatic heartworm, homeless cats and large dogs.  The pets will be flown from Florida to New Jersey and New Hampshire and received by several shelters, which will provide any needed medical care and place the pets for adoption.

On Aug. 2, a chartered plane is scheduled to depart Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport at approximately 5 a.m. ET and arrive at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey between 10:30 and 11 a.m. ET, where a portion of the pets will be received by participating shelters from the region. The plane will then travel to Boston-Manchester Regional Airport in New Hampshire to deliver the remaining pets to the receiving shelters in New England between 12 to 1 p.m. ET. Departure and arrival times are tentative and subject to change.

During the 2022 Clear The Shelters campaign, two special pet airlifts were conducted, rescuing more than 200 cats and dogs from Florida and Louisiana shelters on Aug. 2 and Aug. 30.
