JAN. 20, 2019<\/strong> \u2013 Today on Meet the Press<\/em>, Rudy Giuliani<\/strong> said for the first time that conversations and plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow remained an \u201cactive proposal\u201d and \u201cwent on throughout 2016\u201d saying it \u201ccould be up to as far as October, November.\u201d<\/p>\n

When pressed on this timeline, Giuliani, lawyer for President Donald Trump, told moderator Chuck Todd that President Trump “can remember having conversations” with Michael Cohen about Trump Tower Moscow as late as October or November of 2016.<\/p>\n

On the BuzzFeed reporting, Giuliani said he is \u201c100 percent certain\u201d that President Trump never asked Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. \u201cTo answer your question, categorically, I can tell you his counsel to Michael Cohen throughout that entire period was, \u2018Tell the truth.\u2019 We thought he was telling the truth. I still believe he may have been telling the truth when he testified before Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about collusion between the campaign and Russia, Giuliani said, \u201cOf course I don’t know everyone on the campaign. To my knowledge there’s no collusion on the campaign.\u201d He continued, \u201cI represent the president, I know his knowledge directly talking to him. And I’m in a strange position of having been intimately involved in a large part of the campaign. \nSen. Mark Warner (D-Va.),<\/strong> the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, also joined the program for an exclusive interview and said Giuliani\u2019s new timeline on Trump Tower Moscow conversations \u201cis news to me. And that is big news.\u201d He continued by saying, \u201cIt’s remarkable that we’re two years after the fact and just discovering it today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sen. Warner also said that this news \u201creinforces the fact that we have to finish our investigation\u201d and that \u201cwe need to have Mueller finish.\u201d He continued, \u201cI don’t often feel bad for Rudy Giuliani. This morning, just seeing that interview I almost feel bad for him. He keeps having to readjust his stories as more facts come out.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about the debate surrounding border security and the government shutdown, Sen. Warner said, \u201cWhat the president proposed yesterday \u2013 increasing border security, looking at [Temporary Protection Status], looking at the Dreamers \u2013 I\u2019ll use that as a starting point,\u201d but insisted that the first step has to be opening up the government saying, \u201cWe cannot reward the kind of behavior of hostage taking.\u201d Watch the\u00a0<\/strong>full interview<\/a><\/strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.)<\/strong>, chair of the House Republican Conference, also weighed in on the president\u2019s recent border security proposal saying, \u201cWhat the president has put forward is not amnesty\u201d and that it is a \u201cpurely partisan game\u201d that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is playing and that \u201cshe ought to stop it for the good of the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rep. Cheney also responded to President Trump\u2019s remarks yesterday that the territorial caliphate controlled by ISIS in Syria has been reduced by about \u201c99 percent\u201d in two years, saying that 99 percent is not enough. \u201cWe’ve got to ensure that ISIS is destroyed. Because if you walk away before they’re destroyed, then they have the ability to create safe havens.\u201d Watch the\u00a0full interview<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
