FEMA Administrator: \u201cIt\u2019s going to be years\u201d of recovery effort from Hurricane Harvey<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

AUGUST 27, 2017 — Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio)<\/strong> exclusively ruled out a 2020 run with Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) this morning on \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d telling moderator Chuck Todd: \u201cThe answer is no.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, you couldn’t pronounce it. And secondly, you couldn’t fit it on a bumper sticker,\u201d said Kasich. \u201cBecause Hickenlooper and I work together, cynics out there say, “Well, they want something.” Because we want to stabilize health care and make sure that poor people have something, people assume there’s a motive.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also addressed President Trump\u2019s pardon of Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio earlier this week: \u201cIt absolutely should be out of bounds for somebody to use that as some sort of a political wedge.\u201d Watch the full interview.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown (D)<\/strong> also exclusively joined this morning\u2019s program, sharing with Todd that he speaks with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer \u201cat least every two weeks\u201d and that they\u2019re \u201ctalking about NAFTA renegotiation,<\/a> how we do it.\u201d Watch Brown\u2019s full interview<\/a>, including the difference between his support for southern border fence versus the president\u2019s call for a wall.<\/p>\n

The network broadcast also addressed Hurricane Harvey with FEMA Administrator Brock Long<\/strong> live from FEMA headquarters and \u201cNBC Nightly News\u201d anchor Lester Holt<\/strong> live from the ground in Corpus Christi, who shared he\u2019s \u201cseen very little in terms of recovery.\u201d<\/a> Long told Todd that \u201cit\u2019s going to be years\u201d<\/a> of recovery effort and that FEMA has the \u201creserves and the funding to be able to support the policies in regard to the National Flood Insurance Program, with which \u201cCongress has a lot of work to fix.\u201d<\/p>\n
