‘TODAY,’ ‘NBC Nightly News,’ ‘Meet the Press’ and ‘NBC News Daily’ Each Rank #1 During a Competitive Week Packed with the NBA Finals, FIFA World Cup and NHL Stanley Cup Final

June 18, 2026 — NBC News is #1 for the week of June 8, with TODAY, NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas, Meet the Press with Kristen Welker and NBC News Daily topping broadcast news competition according to Nielsen Media Research. All four newscasts beat their respective competitors despite a week packed with major sports programming, including the NBA Finals, FIFA World Cup and NHL Stanley Cup Final. 

TODAY is the #1 morning show across all key measures for the week, averaging 3.1 million total viewers and 682,000 A25-54 viewers. The broadcast posted its 21st consecutive weekly win in total viewers, its longest streak since April 2012, while extending its lead in key demo A25-54 to 132 consecutive weeks. Season-to-date, TODAY is the # 1 morning show across the board. 

NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas is the #1 evening newscast for the week in the key demo with 1.1 million A25-54 viewers, marking its largest win over ABC World News Tonight in four months. Nightly News maintains its longest streak of year-over-year growth in A25-54 since November 2008. Season to-date, Nightly News also continues to deliver its closest key demo gaps vs. ABC in six years.

Meet the Press with Kristen Welker is the #1 Sunday public affairs show for A25-54 key demo viewers this past Sunday, June 14 with 390,000 viewers. Meet the Press has won five of the last eight weeks in the demo as it continues to lead #1 season-to-date.

NBC News Daily also wins the week across the board, topping GMA3 and CNN and MS NOW’s 12-4 p.m. ET blocks with 1.5 million total viewers and 307,000 A25-54 viewers. NBC News Daily beat Fox News Channel as well in the key demos. NBC News Daily continues to be the #1 afternoon news program on all of TV in A25-54 & A18-49 in its 12P-4P daypart, season to-date.
