July 16, 2024 — Meet the Press with Kristen Welker (MTP) was the #1 Sunday public affairs show in the key demo this past Sunday, July 14, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.
MTP also posted a banner week on digital, seeing over 1.2 million viewers on YouTube in addition to substantial linear numbers.
#1 in the Key Demo on Sunday
MTP ranked #1 in the A25-54 demo this past Sunday, averaging 498,000 viewers in the demo most valued by news advertisers. It led ABC’s This Week by +6,000 (+1%) and CBS’s Face the Nation by +55,000 (+12%).
Compared to 2023, MTP reversed its gap in the demo vs. ABC (+6,000 vs. -56,000 prior year) and reversed its A25-54 gap vs. CBS (+55,000 vs. -58,000 prior year). In total viewers, MTP reversed its gap vs. CBS (+120,000 vs. -292,000 prior year).
Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Rep. Dan Meuser (R-Pa). The program averaged 2.578 million total viewers, leading CBS – which continues to rate for just 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast – by +120,000 (+5%) and trailing ABC by 11%.
Over 1 Million Viewers on YouTube
On YouTube, MTP saw an additional 1.2 million viewers for its full episode, a 412% increase from the prior week.
It was a dominant week across digital, with MTP content reaching 1.7M views across platforms. Viewers watched for a combined total of 159,000 hours.
#1 in Total Viewers in the Nation’s Capital for 9 Straight Years
MTP again ranked #1 in the demo and in total viewers in the influential Washington, D.C. market. Among total viewers, MTP has not lost a Sunday in the nation’s capital for nine years.
