Wide-Ranging Interview Marks Chuck Todd’s Final Broadcast in Nine-Year Tenure as Moderator
Sept. 7, 2023 — This Sunday, Sept. 10 on NBC, Meet the Press with Chuck Todd will air an exclusive one-on-one interview with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) in Chuck Todd’s final broadcast as moderator of the Sunday program.
The wide-ranging sit-down with the California governor, whose national profile has grown in the last year and who many consider a possible future Democratic presidential candidate, takes place in in Sacramento at the Governor’s mansion ahead of Sunday’s broadcast. During the exclusive sit down, the two discuss the future of the Democratic Party, Democrats’ concerns over Biden’s age going into 2024, the role of California in the nation’s politics, and the elusive proposed debate between Newsom and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Sunday’s program will also air an exclusive live interview with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and feature a political roundtable with Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher, The Cook Political Report’s Amy Walter, NBC News Senior Political Editor Mark Murray, and American Enterprise Institute’s Danielle Pletka.
Todd, who announced in June that he would step into a new role as NBC News chief political analyst, has served as Moderator of Meet the Press for nine years, leading an era of digital expansion and audience growth for the longest-running show on television. NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Kristen Welker will begin her tenure as the program’s moderator next Sunday, Sept. 17.
The broadcast airs live at 9 a.m. ET, in New York and Washington, D.C. at 10:30 a.m. and on local NBC stations pursuant to local listings.
