Marks First Original Podcast Series Produced By NBC News Studios
Feb 13, 2023 – On Monday, February 20, NBC News’ award-winning audio team will debut Letters from Sing Sing, a new series investigating the case of Jon-Adrian “JJ” Velazquez, a man formerly imprisoned at Sing Sing for more than 23 years for a murder he says he did not commit.
During the seven-episode series, host and longtime NBC News investigative producer Dan Slepian takes listeners on a powerful and personal journey through JJ’s case – a reporting odyssey that began with a single letter sent to Slepian by JJ. With the investigation spanning more than two decades, and with much of it recorded in real time, Slepian exposes troubling, systemic breakdowns in the criminal justice system stretching beyond JJ’s case.
