September 7, 2022 — Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo this past Sunday, September 4, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.
The episode topped the competition among viewers aged 25-54, averaging 486,000 viewers in the key demo and leading ABC’s This Week by 11,000 viewers and CBS’s Face the Nation by 36,000 viewers. All three programs were retitled for the Labor Day holiday.
Sunday’s special edition of MTP focused on policing in America, following exclusive reporting from Dateline NBC about the case of Anton Black’s death in custody in Greensboro, Md. The broadcast featured Dateline reporting from NBC News’ Lester Holt as well as interviews with policing experts on the implications of Anton Black’s death for national police reform.
In the influential Washington, D.C. market, MTP has not lost a Sunday in total viewers since April 2015 — marking 89 straight months as the #1 Sunday show in the nation’s capital. MTP reached 1.6 million video views across digital platforms last week, with over 200,000 views for Sunday’s episode.
