TODAY More Than Doubles Demo Lead Over GMA Versus Prior Week
TODAY Grows in Key Demo and Total Viewers Week Over Week
NEW YORK – February 8, 2022 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show last week topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the key demo A25-54. The win marks 329 out of the last 333 weeks in first place.
Last week, TODAY posted the most growth in the key demo of the morning shows, more than doubling its demo lead over GMA. TODAY also grew in total viewers versus the prior week. Additionally, TODAY widened its demo lead over GMA week over week and year over year.
Season to date, TODAY has been number-one in the key demo for seven years straight. TODAY’s A25-54 percentage lead over GMA is its largest in three years and its A18-49 percentage lead is its largest in four years at this point in the season.
TODAY Digital reached 14.3 million unique visitors last week, growing week over week.

TODAY averaged 922,000 A25-54 viewers, leading GMA by +77,000 (+9%) and CBS Mornings by +338,000 (+58%)
- TODAY has ranked #1 in among A25-54 viewers for 329 of the last 336 weeks
- Compared to the same week last season, TODAY’s demo lead over GMA improved by 13% (+77,000 vs. +72,000 prior year).
- Week-over-week, TODAY posted the biggest growth in A25-54 viewership (+60,000, or +7%), more than doubled its lead over GMA (+77,000 vs. +33,000 prior week), and improved its lead over CBS by 12% (+338,000 vs. +301,000 prior week).
TODAY averaged 626,000 A18-49 viewers, leading GMA by +82,000 (+15%) and CBS by +217,000 (+53%)
- TODAY added the most A18-49 viewers versus prior week (+42,000, or +7%), more than tripled its lead over GMA (+82,000 vs. +24,000 prior week), and increased its lead over CBS by 22% (+217,000 vs. +178,000 prior week).
TODAY averaged 3.288 million total viewers, +603,000 (+22%) more than CBS
- Compared to the same week last season, TODAY improved its total viewer lead over CBS by 14% (+603,000 vs. +527,000 prior year).
- Week-over-week, TODAY added +94,000 (+3%) to its total viewership and raised its lead over CBS by 4% (+603,000 vs. +582,000 prior week).
