March 9, 2021 — NBC Nightly News’ Lester Holt and TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie will anchor a special Dateline NBC primetime hour from the Lincoln Memorial this Thursday at 10pm ET/9pm CT on NBC and NBC News NOW, as the world marks one year since Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic.
Covid One Year Later: Life After Lockdown will feature an exclusive interview with Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen on the economic toll driven by the coronavirus and how the country can begin rebuilding, as well as an interview with White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain about the vaccine rollout.
The special will feature in-depth coverage on vaccines and the new variants, the future of travel and how small businesses are coping, as well as the hopeful path forward to regaining a sense of normalcy. TODAY news anchor and MSNBC anchor Craig Melvin, NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel and NBC News senior national correspondent and anchor Kate Snow will contribute reports throughout the hour.
Ahead of the broadcast, Holt and Guthrie will anchor a primetime NBC News Special Report at 8pm ET/7pm CT as President Biden addresses the nation to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Covid-19 shutdowns.
The Dateline special is part of NBC News’ two-week series on the pandemic, featuring exclusive and original reporting across TODAY, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, MSNBC, NBCNews.com and NBC News NOW.
