Tops Competition By Double Digits In Key Demo In August
Wins Sunday In Key A25-54 Demo And Total Viewers
Only Sunday Show To Deliver More Than 3 Million Total Viewers on Sunday
September 1, 2020 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo for the month of August and #1 in total viewers and in the key demo this past Sunday, August 30, according to Nielsen Media Research.
AUGUST
August marked MTP’s 13th consecutive month at #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers and fifth straight August win.
MTP averaged 676,000 A25-54 key demo viewers for the month of August and topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +10 percent (+61,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +17 percent (+101,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation.
MTP averaged 3.127 million total viewers, topping ABC by +14 percent (+393,000). Just three percent separated MTP from CBS, which averaged 3.212 million total viewers following the highly-rated CBS Sunday Morning. Compared to last August, MTP was up eight percent (+244,000).
Note: CBS’ Face the Nation retitled four of their programs so far this quarter.
SUNDAY
MTP was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in total viewers and in the key demo this past Sunday, August 30, and was the only Sunday show to deliver more than 3 million total viewers for the second straight week.
Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with Mark Meadows, White House Chief of Staff; Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.), Co-Chair of the Biden 2020 Campaign and House Democratic Assistant to the Majority Whip; Etan Thomas, retired NBA player, author of “We Matter: Athletes and Activism” and host of “The Rematch”; and Sue Bird, the Vice President of Women’s National Basketball Players Association, Olympic gold medalist and Seattle Storm WNBA All-Star.
MTP averaged 3.046 million total viewers, +15 percent (+409,000) more than ABC’s This Week. MTP was also #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers and averaged 671,000 A25-54 key demo viewers, three percent (+21,000) more than ABC.
Note: CBS’s Face The Nation retitled for the fourth time this quarter on Sunday, following the political conventions.
An additional 931,000 total viewers and 202,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, more than doubling the competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers in over five years (since March 22, 2015).
