JANUARY 29, 2019 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of January, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its 14th straight month at #1.

4.036 million total viewers tuned into MTP in January and the Sunday program topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +25 percent (+800,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +13 percent (+450,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This marks MTP’s biggest January wins over ABC in seven years and CBS in eight years. Compared to last year, MTP was the only Sunday public affairs program to grow in total viewers and was up five percent (+174,000). Year-over-year, MTP improved its lead over ABC by +45 percent and more than doubled its advantage over CBS (+131 percent). Compared to last month, MTP posted the biggest growth among total viewers (+561,000, +16 percent), increased its lead over ABC by +51 percent, and nearly doubled its advantage over CBS (+99 percent). January marks the 20th straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the 14th straight month MTP has beaten CBS in total viewers.

MTP continues to dominate the demo most valued by news advertisers, winning its 16th consecutive month among A24-54 viewers. 1.048 million key demo viewers tuned in in January, as MTP outperformed its competition by double-digits: +36 percent (+277,000) more than ABC and +37 percent (+284,000) more than CBS. This marks MTP’s biggest January demo win over ABC in six years and best advantage over CBS in 10 years. Compared to last month, MTP posted the biggest demo viewer growth (+195,000, +23 percent), increased its lead over ABC by +48 percent, and nearly tripled its lead over CBS (+191 percent). Compared to last year, MTP improved its advantages over both ABC (+ 114 percent) and CBS (+ 13 percent). January is the 16th straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the 35th straight month MTP has beaten CBS in the key demo.

MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, January 27, marking its tenth straight week at #1. Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, as well as an interview with Sen. Marco Rubio.

3.965 million total viewers tuned in to the Sunday program: +18 percent (+611,000) more than ABC and +20 percent (+673,000) more than CBS. MTP topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits. This marks the broadcast’s 32nd straight win over ABC and tenth straight win over CBS in total viewers. MTP posted its biggest advantage over CBS in five months (since August 12, 2018) and improved its lead over CBS by +53 percent week-over-week. Compared to the same broadcast last year, MTP posted the biggest growth among total viewers (+412,000, +12 percent) and more than doubled its advantages over both ABC (+118 percent) and CBS (+145 percent).

MTP also won in the key demo for its 52nd straight broadcast, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. For the third straight week MTP was the only Sunday public affairs program to deliver more than one million demo viewers. 1.049 million A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +31 percent (+249,000) more than ABC and +55 percent (+373,000) more than CBS. This is the broadcast’s best streak in over 18 years (since October 15, 2000). This was MTP’s biggest A25-54 advantage over CBS since March 11, 2018 (a ten-month high). Compared to last year, MTP was the only broadcast to grow its demo viewership and was up five percent (+47,000) and increased its advantages over both ABC (+227 percent) and CBS (+16 percent). Week-over-week, MTP increased its lead over CBS by +53 percent (+373,000 vs. +243,000).

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its best total viewer lead over ABC in seven years and CBS in eight years.

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming the competition combined among both total viewers and A25-54 viewers and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).

An additional 1.176 million total viewers and 285,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
