Only Sunday Show Delivering More Than Three Million Total Viewers, Growing in Total Viewers Year-Over-Year
Beats ABC and CBS by Double-Digits Across the Board
Wins Key Demo for 21st Straight Broadcast
MAY 8, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show this past Sunday, May 6, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its third week at #1 across the board.
Sunday’s broadcast featured an exclusive interview with Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, as well as interviews with Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti and former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul.
MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver more than three million total viewers, beating both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 3.420 million total viewers tuned into MTP: +18 percent (+532,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and +20 percent (+576,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation.” This marks MTP’s sixth straight win over CBS and third straight win over ABC in total viewers. Compared to last year, MTP was the only Sunday show to grow in total viewers (+5 percent, 175,000). Compared to last year, MTP’s lead over CBS is 20 times bigger (+549,000) and its lead over ABC is four times bigger (+420,000). Compared to last week, MTP improved it lead over CBS by +78 percent (+252,000) – its biggest advantage over CBS in seven weeks (since 3/11/2018). The show grew six percent (+204,000) week over week, posting its biggest total viewership in three weeks.
MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 21st straight broadcast, beating both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 889,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +16 percent (+126,000) more than ABC and +29 percent (+202,000) more than CBS. Week over week, MTP improved its lead over ABC by +37 percent (+34,000) and CBS by three percent (+7,000). Compared to last year, MTP improved its advantage over CBS by four percent (+9,000).
Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board, delivering its biggest wins over ABC and CBS in total viewers in six years (since 2011-2012)
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).
An additional 1.060 million total viewers and 258,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
