#1 in A18-49 for 34 Consecutive Months 

Longest Weekly Key Demo Winning Streak in Over 4.5 Years

FEBRUARY 27, 2018 – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” is the #1 most-watched broadcast in the key demo for the month of February, winning its 32 straight month, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

The broadcast’s winning streak in the demo most valued by news advertisers is its longest in nearly four years, averaging 2.1 million A25-54 viewers this past month, beating “ABC World News Tonight” by +178,000 viewers (+9%) and “CBS Evening News” by +672,000 viewers (+46%).

Now for 34 consecutive months, “Nightly News” is also the most-watched among A18-49 viewers, averaging 1.5 million and topping ABC by +201,000 viewers (+15%) and CBS by +572,000 viewers (+52%).

8.7 million total viewers tuned in to “Nightly News” for the month of February 2018: +1.9 million total viewers (+28%) more than “CBS Evening News.”

For the week of February 19, “Nightly News” was #1 in the key demo for the 88th  week in a row, averaging 2.1 million A25-54 viewers and leading ABC by +126,000 viewers (+6%) and CBS by +666,000 viewers (+47%). For 133 of the past 134 weeks, Nightly News was also the most-watched among A18-49 viewers, averaging 1.5 million and topping ABC by +180,000 viewers (+13%) and CBS by +553,000 viewers (+58%).

For the week of February 19, the broadcast aired hours earlier than normal in 25 percent of the country due to Olympic Games coverage; West Coast viewers received the show at 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time and 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time during the entirety of the Games. 8.3 million total viewers tuned in to “Nightly News” last week, beating CBS by +1.7 million viewers (+25%).

“Nightly News” continues as the #1 most-watched evening newscast season-to-date in the key demo, delivering its largest demo lead over CBS in seven seasons.
