Beats Competition by Double-Digits in Key Demo
Improves Total Viewer Advantage over CBS by 30 Percent Week Over Week
Delivers Best Streak in Total Viewers since April of This Year
DECEMBER 19, 2017 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the most-watched public affairs program this past Sunday, according to Nielsen Media Research data, winning its third straight week at #1 across the board.
Sunday’s broadcast featured an exclusive interview with Marc Short, White House legislative affairs director as well as exclusive interviews with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio). Short addressed speculation about President Donald Trump firing Special Counsel Robert Mueller, telling Todd: “There’s no conversation about that whatsoever in the White House.”
3.525 million total viewers tuned into MTP: +16 percent (+475,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and three percent (+107,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which only rates for 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. This marks MTP’s best streak in total viewers since April of this year (April 2, April 9 and April 23). Week-over-week, MTP improved its advantage over CBS by +30 percent (+107,000 vs. +83,000). Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP’s advantage over ABC improved by +66 percent (+475,000 vs. +287,000 prior year).
967,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into Sunday’s program. MTP beat ABC by +12 percent (+107,000) and CBS by +22 percent (+175,000), improving its advantage over CBS by +13 percent (+175,000 vs. +155,000) week over week.
An additional 1.010 million total viewers and 278,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into MTP through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
