Quadruples Advantages Over CBS With Both A25-54 and A18-49 Viewers Week Over Week
Beats ABC in Total Viewers For 30th Consecutive Broadcast, Delivering Biggest Season-to-Date Lead in Six Years
Tickets Now On Sale for The Meet the Press Film Festival in Collaboration with AFI
OCTOBER 24, 2017 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo this past Sunday, Oct. 22, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) as well as #MeToo stories from four female senators – a powerful example of the prevalence of sexual harassment in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations.
MTP marked its 14th straight broadcast win in the demo most valued by news advertisers, averaging 899,000 viewers: seven percent (+59,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and +28 percent (+199,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which continues to rate for only the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. Week over week, MTP has quadrupled its advantages over CBS with both A25-54 and A18-49 viewers.
3.117 million total viewers tuned into the program, topping ABC in total viewers for the 30th straight broadcast: nine percent (+245,000) more than ABC. Just five percent (176,000) viewers separated CBS’ half-hour from MTP.
Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, topping ABC by +14 percent (+115,000) and CBS by +12 percent (102,000). The broadcast also leads ABC in total viewers by +12 percent (+351,000), its biggest advantage in six years (since the 2011-12 broadcast season).
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday in total viewers since March 2015.
An additional 619,000 total viewers and 100,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into MTP this past Sunday through a rebroadcast on MSNBC.
Last week, MTP announced its full slate of official selections for The Meet the Press Film Festival in Collaboration with the American Film Institute (AFI) this November in recognition of the broadcast’s 70th anniversary. Tickets to the festival are now on sale and available here.
Tune into MSNBC’s “MTP Daily” weekdays at 5 p.m. for more from Todd, and follow the show on Facebook and on Twitter for the latest.
