TODAY Notches 2nd Weekly Win in 4 Weeks, Biggest Non-Olympic Total Viewer Win in More Than 4 Years
Season-to-Date, TODAY Is Posting Its Biggest Demo Win Over GMA and Tightest Total Viewer Gap in 5 Years
NEW YORK – December 6, 2016 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show outright last week topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in total viewers and all demos. This marks TODAY’s second weekly win in the last four weeks, and its biggest non-Olympic total viewer win over GMA since the week of 6/18/2012. TODAY has now won six weeks this year in total viewers and all demos including the week of the presidential election, and TODAY also won the third quarter outright. Additionally, TODAY has won the key demo A25-54 for more than 15 consecutive months, 65 out of the last 66 weeks. Season-to-date, TODAY is posting its largest A25-54 and A18-49 advantages over GMA and its closest total viewer margin in five years.
For the week of November 28, TODAY topped GMA by 105k in total viewers, 269k in A25-54, and 279k in A18-49. GMA’s averages are down the most of the morning shows versus the same week last year.
*Please note: As of 12/28/15, Nielsen national ratings are based on an expanded sample known as “NPX,” which effectively doubles the size of the Nielsen panel through a combination of additional meters and HHs. While NPX is now the official currency of record, all data pre-12/28/15 remains based on the old sample — so year-to-year and other comparisons are versus pre-NPX data.
