JUNE 9, 2016 – On Friday, June 10, NBC News and MSNBC will provide special live coverage of the funeral services honoring boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
Matt Lauer will preview the funeral service live from Louisville for TODAY.
Lester Holt will anchor NBC News coverage from New York beginning shortly after 2pm ET. He will be joined by David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker and author of King of the World, to offer insight and perspective.
Brian Williams will lead MSNBC’s coverage from New York, joined on set by Mike Lupica, New York Daily News sports columnist and MSNBC contributor, along with Dave Zirin, sports editor for The Nation and host of the Edge of Sports podcast, live from Louisville. The Rev. Al Sharpton, New York Times sports columnist Bill Rhoden, biographer Davis Miller, and other guests will also share memories and discuss Ali’s lasting legacy.
Correspondents contributing to coverage for both networks include Ron Allen, Rehema Ellis, Craig Melvin, Ayman Mohyeldin, and Janet Shamlian.
At 10 p.m. ET Friday, MSNBC will air “When We Were Kings,” the Oscar-winning documentary recounting Ali’s “Rumble in the Jungle.”
